Canines for Veterans

Canines for Veterans (www.CaninesForService.org) is a national program that provides wounded veterans with quality trained service dogs to assist in mitigating disabilities including mobility impairment, traumatic brain injury and post traumatic stress disorder. Unique in the United States, our program teaches military prisoners to raise and train the service dogs that we provide to veterans with disabilities; prisoners get a second chance to help their comrades. The dogs for this program are selected from local shelters and rescues from the overwhelming population of unwanted and abandoned dogs in our country that may otherwise be euthanized.
